Rapid adaptation to herbicide in ragweed
Tracking the origin and spread of herbicide resistance in Ambrosia artemisiifolia
Common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia) has independently evolved resistance to multiple herbicide classes across its agricultural range. We’re using whole-genome sequencing of resistant and susceptible populations to identify the genetic basis of resistance, ask whether resistance has arisen from standing variation versus de novo mutation, and reconstruct how resistance alleles spread across the landscape.
